Please don't sit me upright until I can do it all by myself!
We all know that a really fun part of having a baby is the chance to adopt a whole new accessory sport. Beyond all the really cute clothes; there is the sub culture of baby wearing and don't even get me started on the pram!
But one disturbing trend is the propensity to accessories our lives with what I will affectionately call 'baby devices'. You know they type of things. Bumbos, Jolly Jumpers and walkers to name a few.
These are the items that on the outside look amazing but when you look a little closer can be devastating to the cognitive and physical development of our most precious ones. Anecdotally the trend in our own center (Ballarat) were hear over and over again that "as soon as I stopped sitting my baby their developmental progress resumed" this is most evident when a baby just will not make the transition to creeping!
The title of this page says it all. Until a baby is able to put themselves into a seating position without any outside assistance, they should not be made to be upright. Why?
Below I encourage you to click on the links and read & watch the evidence as to why.
